You may remember our previous posts about the 'National Speedwatch All-Out Day', which took place on Wednesday 15 July 2026.

Please see the below updates with regard to the event both nationally and from Derbyshire

▪️ National Results

The day formed part of the second ever National Speedwatch Day of Action, working alongside NPCC Operation Spotlight.

Across England and Wales:

✅ 79,735 vehicles passed active Speedwatch sites

✅ 6,601 vehicles were observed speeding

✅ 487 Community Speed Watch groups took part

✅ 644 roadside sessions were conducted

✅ 1,176 volunteers gave their time to support the initiative

This was a fantastic achievement and demonstrates the power of Community Speed Watch volunteers working together to deliver an important road safety message to thousands of drivers.

▪️National Summary

• 18 of England's 39 police forces took part.
• 487 CSW groups were active, carrying out 644 roadside sessions.
• Approximately 6,600 speeding vehicles were reported.
• Around 1,200 volunteers were recorded, with estimates suggesting this could have been closer to 1,800 across all participating forces.
• Approximately 80,000 vehicles were counted, with estimates suggesting the true figure may have been nearer 160,000 nationally.

▪️ Derbyshire's Outstanding Contribution

Derbyshire should be incredibly proud of its contribution to the event.

Our volunteers achieved:

🚓 40 active groups (6th highest nationally)

👥 220 volunteers (the highest volunteer turnout in the country!)

📋 55 sessions conducted (6th highest nationally)

🚗 18,379 vehicles monitored

⚠️ 693 speeding vehicles recorded

That means around 3.8% of vehicles observed were speeding.
